Be careful with this. If you aren't checking fit against the cab and other panels bolted together, you may need to do more work to get it all lined up and fitting properly. What you are doing is not a bad idea, just be cautious and don't expect everything to bolt on and go. If it does, then Just don't EXPECT it.

Your work looks pretty good so far. Keep it up!
