I emailed RetroSound and they said I could send the radio back for inspection. Here's what they said:
Test and inspection have been completed for RA # 06035.


Test & Inspections:
Turner on radio seem to work sporadically when tech first tested the different modes/functions of radio.
Tech performed a factory reset which has seem to rectify the issue.
Sound/Audio is good with clear reception all local radio stations. AUX, Bluetooth & USB all play music.

I got it back and still the same crappy reception - no different.
What the hell.
