Interesting. I have 350,000 miles on my Jimmy OEM alternator setup and it is rock solid. It's the same setup used on C3 Corvettes from 69-82 and had no issue with the SHP motors that would pull nearly 7000 rpm with the 70 LT-1.

I would start trouble shooting to figure out what is wrong with your setup and correct that before re-inventing the wheel. Whether the bracket is broken, misaligned or something else going on.
