I would spray that roof cavity with Rust Mort, then epoxy prime. Once the roof is reassembled spray the area with Waxoyl using this spray gun: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-.../dp/B01AAOGFAO

I would also Waxoyl the rocker cavities as well!
