Air Bags/Different Steering Wheels

I have the basic '95 Suburban Cheyenne with the foam wheel that has seen better days. I bought a nice leather one a while ago and yesterday went to finally install it (replaced multi-function switch). Well, I learned something new and now need to learn more. My airbag is the same size and shape, but the way it fastens to the wheel at four points are different. Is this another '95-only thing?

I'm going to have to buy a newer airbag at the junkyard or buy an older leather wheel. I want to go with newer air bag. I need to get to the skinny on this. When did they change? I can just look for a '99, but I want to know what years will work, when the change was, and increase my options
