Re: looking for a flush mounted tonneau cover

I was looking at them the only problem I can see is that I'm smoothing the tail gate and am going to put the tailgate handle on the inside so it may be hard to get the cover open to get to it.

Re: looking for a flush mounted tonneau cover

That looks very similar to a cover we just painted for a customer. We had never seen a cover quite like it honestly, was fairly thin aluminum with a inner structure sort of like a hood has, to give it strength. It fit down right on top of the bed top, and since it was just a thin piece of aluminum around the edge, it fit flush and snug. This one had a keyhole in the top at the rear though, it controlled two rods that kept it secure in the back. The front hinges were very simple and the two halves just slipped in to each other, and then it had support shocks left and right. All in all two guys could remove it in a matter of seconds and it weighed hardly anything.

It did not have a name or brand on it anywhere though, maybe I'll call the owner and find out what the heck it was. I do know he told me it cost $1000, unpainted. We charged him $325 to turn it black, so for a price tag of over 1300, sorta pricey.

Re: looking for a flush mounted tonneau cover

http://www.ltsportcover.com/index.html

That is what he had, but as I said, his had a keyhole on the top to lock/open with. Seems the new style does not have that. Anyways, that is the website he pointed me to when I called and inquired about the brand.
I didn't even think about if they made one for square bodies, I just know it was the coolest cover I'd ever seen. He had a late model nissan truck though.

Re: looking for a flush mounted tonneau cover

bigarmzz, That looks really good I think I may only be able to run that cover, the company that RandyP gave me the info on only does them for the newer trucks which sucks because they are kick a$$.

Re: looking for a flush mounted tonneau cover

OK, sorry for the late night jab. I ended up going with Gaylords, but I really liked the Checker units. My problem with them was that they are more prone to leaks, and they discontinued the aluminum unit.
In a better space now.

Re: looking for a flush mounted tonneau cover

I have a gaylords on my 85' and think it's perfect. Keeps everything secure with the dual locks and still looks smooth. I also have a shaved tailgate and it's still easy to get access to the bed.

I took a few today with the phone camera so they aren't very good I don't know why the other picture is so small. I'll see if I can get some better ones tomorrow.
