Jimmy/GMC V-6 hydramatic combo?

I found a 2WD '70 Jimmy that is pretty much body and frame- "pile of parts" condition- "numbers matching" authenticity is a non-starter. I may have an early '60s GMC pickup with V-6/Truck Hydramatic available. So, I've been pondering the V-6 powertrain in a Jimmy (I'm digging my '69 305 V-6 3/4 ton) With at least 1200 lbs of engine and transmission, I know there'd need to be some beefing up of the Jimmy frame/suspension/brakes.

I wonder how much of the old truck I can use for this, and how practical might it be?

Could I keep the rear wheels on the ground? Would it tip over?
