Gear box?
On my 72 C10 when I turn the wheel at a dead stop the wheel acts like it doesnt wont to turn and pops but when the truck is moving and you turn it doesnt do it that often....I checked the power steering fluid its good and the belt is tight...So could it be the gear box?

Re: Gear box?
Yes, it could be the gearbox.
I'd raise the whole front end and put it on stands. Then check every component carefully to see if you can detect any thing loose or something interfering. If you don't find anything there, I probably would have it checked by a front end specialist shop or just replace the gearbox. It can be a potentially dangerous situation if it were to act up on the road.

Re: Gear box?
Torqued properly there should be no wear in the area indicated, pitman arm to steering shaft.
