Can you ID this?

Since Im using new bedsides on my Blazer I decided to cut off some good sections that were left from my old originals. I figured I could use them for any future patchings. I also didnt feel right taking them to the scrap yard. As I took them apart I found this on the Passenger side skin. I was wondering what it was used for and if it was original to start with. My driver side skin did not have this. The outer section you see is a rubber hose 1/4 x 6" on a solid rod. Was this a support of some kind?

Im not quite sure what you mean. It all looks like one piece. Is it supposed to come off, I thought it was welded to the skin. Im considering putting in the for sale section. If its something someone would need, I absolutely have no need for it.

Re: Can you ID this?

Shouldn't be welded on. Probably "rusted" on. Tap it with a hammer and it should break free. If the holes in the body skin where filled, someone may have welded it on when filling them.

They often are not removed from inside the bed wall when people remove the swing-away. They tend to fit tight and not fall out. They are hard to reproduce because they bend in two directions to match the bed wall and mounting a swing-away without one doesn't work very well. When it had a swing away, there whould have been another similar one on the bottom without the rod welded to it.

Re: Can you ID this?

It makes sence now. I tried breaking it loose but you can see were the holes were a tad spot welded. I checked the lower bottom skin and the plate is missing. You can also see were it had the holes covered. When I get some time I'll mess with it and try and save it. Hopefully I can save the threads. I'll post new pics and I'll post a "what's it worth".
