aluminum front cover HELP!
I am putting the final touches on my 350 SBC. I put a polished aluminum front cover on the motor and does not have the pointer for the timing and I need to find a aftermarket pointer for the timing. I bought a bolt on one that is too high when mounted. Hoping someone out there can help? thanks Rick

Re: aluminum front cover HELP!
The pointer needs to match your balancer size. What diameter balancer do you have? If you get a pointer that matches, it should be closer. Do you have a picture in case we don't understand your problem? I'm not sure if you mean "too high" as in it stands too far away or if it's the right size but covers your balancer timing marks.

Re: aluminum front cover HELP!
whatever you end up with...........be sure to verify that "0" (zeroš) on the timing tab and the balancer............. is in fact TDC on cylinder #1

Re: aluminum front cover HELP!
Here is mine...I used the Moroso billet pointer, but had to radius the inner edges to clear timing cover radius..Then adjusted the pointer to TDC

Re: aluminum front cover HELP!
You guys have any clearance issues with the short water pump?

Re: aluminum front cover HELP!
Most times short clearance is tight with the aluminum cover but will work. Once in a while, you have to use thick water pump gaskets to get the clearance needed. As far as timing pointers there has been no issues with the short pump from my experiences
