Dear Everyone,

My 87 V15/305TBI/TH400 is having problems going into park, it'll only engage the Park position if I get a bit aggressive with the column shifter. I don't know if the shift linkage is out of whack or what. I've never had to adjust a shift linkage(if that's what the issue might be) before and any pointers/suggestions as to the remedy for this, if that is the issue would be hugely appreciated.

my th400 did this in my 68 (im sure linkage is different) but the linkage was getting hungup and eventually came loose and my truck rolled away whole getting gas!

Sounds like linkage problem - check the bushings where the linkage pivots on (under truck on frame), sometimes they wear and/or fall apart. Also, check the linkage that goes through the trans shifter lever, if the cotter or hair pin is missing, it may be slipping out of place when shifting into park.

mine was the cotter pin in trans slector
