Slip over cab support cover

Hi guys, I have done some research on here and fully understand that in most cases when u have a cab support rusted out there are larger issues. In my case however I believe I can cut out the cancer, hose it down with inhibitor and then put in the slip over.

Couple of questions, has anyone put one of these on? Do they just bolt over or are you suppose to tac them in with a welder (I dont have one or the skill set).

Looking for some experience before I order the part.a

They needed to be welded and the slip over version holds moisture between old existing metal and new and generally rust back out within a short time span. Generally used by people looking to flip something as cheaply as possible with no thought towards a long term lasting repair. We won't even sell them.

I only cut the flower halves of my supports off as the uppers at all four corners were solid. I then grafted in the lower halves from the replacement floor support panels. The supports are a pretty important part of the structure of the floor, as Gmcpaul said they need to be welded in for sure.

Thanks Guys, this is what I needed. This is a more complete answer than what I had seen previously. I am going to need to go ahead and replace the whole thing.
