Hot Rod Magazine Rant

today i was on the phone with Hot Rod Magazine subscription services,as i'd emailed them twice with no reply.i realized a while ago,i hadn't seen a new Hot Rod for a while.i had received an email a bit ago, saying my subscription would run out on whatever date and my credit card would be automatically charged for the renewal, unless i called to cancel.i didn't cancel, they charged my credit card,no problem. i have been reading it forever and have every Hot Rod from Dec 1956 til June 2022 apperantly, along with Rod&Custom,Hot Rod Deluxe and a bunch of others i used to get.so after i listened to elevator music for a while,i had a lady come on the phone to ask how she could help me.i explained my situation,i had emailed twice with no reply.she said my subscription ran out with the June 2022 copy and the renewal doesn't start til the November issue?i said that's about the dumbest thing i've ever heard?i thought the whole reason for an automatic renewal was so that it was seamless and you wouldn't miss any issues?i guess that's not the case?

mud I stopped buying magazines quite awhile ago and I also purged my collection down by tossing pretty much (not all) everything newer than '75. That being said I thought you would enjoy part of my shops walls ...

That's just weird. It's not like any print magazine has an excess of subscribers.

I've never heard anything like that before. Must be a mistake.

Re: Hot Rod Magazine Rant

I too have been a long time subscriber, since the 60's. It wasn't alarming to miss getting one month every now and then. I accepted that. But I started missing more often, so I called them. She said my missing copies had been returned "undeliverable". So they did not try to contact me by email? No. Our mail carrier at the time had been returning bits of our mail for no reason. Hot Rod said they would refund me the rest of my sub. That didn't happen either. I'm done with them.

Those look what could be 409 covers on the front of your pull out drawers, very cool idea .
Oh just noticed on the other set of cabinets maybe Mopar covers on them ???

I get the "undeliverable' thing all the time.

Just yesterday there was a pickup truck in my driveway. I didn't recognize it and went out as it drove away. But it stopped at the mailbox's. I thought it was the mail carrier. So I grabbed my car key and chased it down.

I was right. It was the mail carrier.(they contract them out up here, no Postal van).

So I stop this woman and ask if she has a package for me?
She does. She said that she was afraid of my dog. Okay, I can see that. It's a long driveway and he's an intimidating dog but he's behind a locked gate. He has no access to the front yard. But it was enough to make my package undeliverable.

I have found Hot Rod magazine to be less interesting in the last few years. I don't relate to the high budget builds. I let my subscription lapse.

Re: Hot Rod Magazine Rant

I find myself mostly just looking at the pictures these days. Every once in a while, I will find an article that interests me. I keep thinking I will not renew but, for the 12 bucks, or so, I just keep rolling it over.

Re: Hot Rod Magazine Rant

as a housewarming gift i got a friend a magazine subscription to a truck mag, billed both renewals (mine and his) to the same card. after a few years i said ok, that house is warm enough, and canceled HIS subscription. made sure mine would be unaffected. of course they cancelled mine. so he got an extra year and i bought them in the store like a chump haha
