Question Mystery GMC at Speed Week

I regularly attend Speed Week at the Bonneville salt flats. There are always peculiar push rigs and other cars out there, but I've never seen one of these. Obviously, it's a GMC, and based on the grill slats and front bumper, I'd guess it's a 47-55.

So...

what is it?

Re: Mystery GMC at Speed Week

It looks like GMC built them for moving companies in the early 50's.

My ongoing truck projects:
48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Interesting...

Despite the GMC stickers on the doors, I just found this article which indicates they are called a Fageol Superfreighter, made by Twin Coach and are actually International Harvester chassis/drivetrains.

A solid one like that Mayflower one looks to be would make a great vintage motorhome.
