Project 71 cluncker

Well I run across this 71 C10 on ebay and desided to buy will went i got it home i got to looking at it and close and well i started finding a list of thing from small to big motor mount were still the Six-cylinder frame mounts and the motor is setting to far back and the headers are wrong the rubber fuel line from the hard line to the pump looks to be some food grade hose and the trans cross member needs to be bolted in right or replace the floor pans need replace rocker the fender rusted in the front pockets rust spot here and there but lucky i have a lot of parts from my frist c10 that i had it was a 67 and i also have a 71 suburban that i am trying to work on as well

well i got to work on my project some this weekend i took the front clip off plan on pulling the motor and trans out and take the body off the frame and clean and paint the frame also got a pics of my glove box lid sticker trying to fig out what all it means if any one can help thanks

well its been a while seen i got to work on my rides i have had a lot going on in my life but i am happy to be back at so today i got to make progerss on my old truck i went and got some motor mounts off what left of my old 67 and got back home and pulled the motor out of the 71 and took the motor mounts off that was wrong and started cleaning the ones up that i had got off the 67

i have found a lot that i need to fix but its mosty with the drive train it i have thought about put a vortec in it with a 5 speed but i need to save that for my suburban lol and just put the 283 in it that was post to be a 327 back in it lol

well i got to work on my 71 some this weekend i got the right motor mounts put in and got the motor set back in it and the trans cross member bolt in like its post to be and got a set of header for a 67 283 for it has well have got them on it yet thou i did get some of the small stuff changed out that needed to be fix

Thanks hope to make it a good project in the end but for now I just want to get it were I can drive it lol cause i really like to get back to working on my old suburban lol

Lookin good! strange coincidence, the truck i bought on ebay was a 327 but when i got it home and ran the casting numbers it turned into a 283. I didnt care anyway but thats the kind of crap you get stuck with on ebay im building a good 350 for it anyway.

well got to work on the 71 some this weekend got the motor wiring harness fixed and got the other header on and put a new set of spark plug in hope to get to work on it some more today or tomorrow

man you had me excited about that 283 when you said you were building a 350, i saw hot springs and was about to ask to buy the 283 but realized that you are in NC, Im in AR. lol, different hot springs. looks like about what i got into when i had bought a 71 elcamino. looked good till i got it out of the shade of the old oak tree it sat under. good luck

I got a little bit more done today i check the drive shaft and the other ones i have none of them would fit so i have to get one cut and made up for it and my auto shifter linkage i learn wasnt the right one so i have to order one from one of the venders on here but it wasnt all bad i did get the front sheet metal back on it and all the wireing and got to start it up i was so happy to here that old truck run better then it ever has lol but i know i still have a long ways to go but it just help to get me more motivated with the truck

well got my drive shaft drop off today to get a 1-5/8" cut off it and got some parts ordered but i still need to to get the turn signals fixed and do something with the rusted spots on it so maybe i get some of that done this weekend lol

well got my shifter linkage today and got it put in and got to drive the old truck around in the yard lol i still got to take it to the muffler shop and get the pipes run out the back and get to doing some body work done

I am have fun with it my 6 year old boy like to help me and i enjoy the the time we spent together work on it and yea i probley are to add the lol on theard i do say it alot on here

well didnt get much done this weekend i did get by pull a part and got me power steering brackets and pump also went by the part store and pick up a new power steering hose while i was the i seen a 87 chevy van and got the side marker light from it thought i try and see what it would look like on the old 71 i did learn the whole lens lights up unlike the truck one and the lens sets closer so i took a pic of before and after hopeing to see what people think so i tought i posted it
