Smile Re: Looking for a borescope

i bought my dad a Snap On bore scope several years ago and it was not too expensive at the time, i'm sure they have gone up since then, but it has a clear screen and i also bought him the smallest wand so he can look at the inside of a rifle barrel. if i remember correctly it was under $700 with the different size wands. one of my coworkers bought the same one and uses it quite often looking for damage in engine blocks/cylinder heads. it does still pics or video.

Re: Looking for a borescope

You can go the low buck route and get one that plugs into a phone. I bought one some years ago for less than $20.

Re: Looking for a borescope

I bought this one because it has an articulating camera, so you can look back up at the head and valves:

Re: Looking for a borescope

One was included with the vehicle scanner I purchased some time back. Large size of scanner make use somewhat cumbersome. If I were to buy one would look at many that use my cell as the screen. Really cheap and for as much as I would use it. It would be fine. Amazon, Ebay they are plentiful.

Re: Looking for a borescope

really depends on your intended needs and frequency of use

we buy Snap-on scopes at work, one thing I like is the dual camera head

one faces sideways, the other on the end. cheaper than articulating cameras and fits smaller openings

they record and file conveniently for vehicle history records

might be a little excessive for home use but I don't put a lot of stock in cheap electronics

I believe Milwaukee make good sewer cams, they might have a compact automotive application that's reliable

good luck!

I've been using this for many years. Good, economical unit.

Re: Looking for a borescope

I have a bluetooth unit that is very nice, has a bright LED light on the end of the camera, and is rechargeable. You have to download an app to your phone, but it’s all really easy to set up.

I’m away from home for the week but if I remember I’ll post up the specifics this weekend.

I have a similar one, that I got from Amazon, for around $40.
I Bluetooth it to my iPad so I have a “Big Screen” to look at when I’m using it.
So far it works pretty good.

Re: Looking for a borescope

I have this one, it's a few bucks cheaper with the 16' cable, or about $20 more for an articulating end:
