Is this too much head?!
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pmx-2121/overview/
I know a guy who will sell me these heads for cheap. I want to build a 383 from my 350. my concern is that they just have to much flow for a ~425-450 hp motor. he's askin $675, with Christmas just around the corner I'm sure I could get him down to $600, $625 tops. Should I do it or not?

Re: Is this too much head?!
Way too big. A 225cc head is nowhere near a street head unless we are talking 427 or more cubic inch small block. if your in that neighborhood the last thing you want is a knock off junk cylinder head anyhow. I would pass because it isn't really a deal.

That seem like a little much to me. If you were doing an all out full roller high compression engine for the strip maybe so. I would stick in the 200cc area.

Re: Is this too much head?!
Agreed brans,,, many were thinking it,,, someone had to say it
Fastlane,, do yourself a favor and pass on those. Not right for a street bound 383 is the nicest thing I can say about them.

Re: Is this too much head?!
You could make them work, but it is really not worth it in my book. I knew I guy who used Dart 215's on a 383 with a comp 265 cam, roller rockers, and a port matched manifold. It worked fine, but had some low rpm vacuum signal issues that a 195 cc head or smaller would not of had. Especially since it was in a C10 rcsb with 3.23 gears.
