Door wrench
Does anyone know where I can get a wrench for getting at the door henge bolts. The manual calls for a special GM tool, looks like an S wrench. Would a standard S work

I always used a regular wrench...even a socket. You are talking about the bolt that goes from the hinge to the door, right? ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. I just took the doors off a 70 cab with a regular end wrench and a 3/8 ratchet with a socket. No problems.

Anyone can get at the hinge bolts that fasten to the door. He is looking for a specific wrench for the bolts that fasten the hinge to the cab. I wouldn't mind finding out where I could get one myself so I don't have to pull the doors for a simple adjustment.

I just replaced my hinges and used regular wrenches. There are 1 or 2 bolts that are tricky but I managed.

You can do it with a box end/ open end wrench, but man it is tough. A ratchet wrench helps on a few of the bolts. The 3rd bolt (one closest to the front) on each hinge is really tough. A 'S' shaped wrench might help there (don't know, don't have one), I used a long box end and came in from underneith on the top hinge. You can only turn them about 1 point on a 12 point wrench at a time. Plan to spend some time.

I got my hinge wrench from Snap-On. The no. is: S 9619. It was very pricey!
The hinge wrench is made differently compared to an "S" wrench. The off sets are deeper. It is nice having the wrench, but it is not the total answer. The nice part of the wrench is that it is long enough to get some force on the bolts. Jim
