Re: Need some pictures

Nope, my mistake. I do have those. Anybody have pix of the part that goes right behind the grille on a 67? better yet, as I have only one, where can I get another one? (other than a junkyard) The hood stops/bumpers screw into them. Looks like a 67 is a little different, and it answers another question, whether a 67 grille is interchangable with others. I imagine if my truck had been put together right by the PO it would hold the top of the grille in place. But those wood screws are easy to get out.

Re: Need some pictures

Diablo, I will go look at mine real quick. As far as the grills, they are all the same (except appearance) thru the years. The 69-72 has the chrome across the top, like Roger's.

Re: Need some pictures

Diablo, the piece you are refering to is part of the grill. I think. On the 67's and 68's the top bar on the grill is different than the other years, but the bumpers still go in the same place. I compared my 72 to my 68. Hope this helps.

Re: Need some pictures

That does help. I will start looking in that direction. I can't re-use the grille, since the PO cut and pried parts of it to fit in other lights(?), so I need another one. At $400 new, the junkyard looks like a logical choice. They are just so far away.

Re: Need some pictures

Actually they screw into the grill supports on each side, not the grill.

Re: Need some pictures

Actually the grill supports are part of the grill. They are riveted to the upper grill molding and the grill itself. You can't just remove the grill from the supports without drilling the rivets. The bumpers screw through the upper grill molding and the support piece that bolts to the truck.

Re: Need some pictures

Ahah! That's what they are-grille supports! When I took off the grille, the support(s) were bolted on with 2 bolts at the fender side and two at the grille, I think. (The PO made a real mess of things) I only have one and the other is missing, that is why I'm looking. I'm not in a hurry, I should have this thing up and running by christmas...2011!

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread!

Sounds like he must have drilled the rivets out and used bolts from the support to the grill. See pics. These are from my spare 72 grill, my 68 one is identical. Riveted and bumper bolts thru the grill and support. the only thing I could see being a pain is in the first pic, the support is welded to the upper grill molding. Which side do you need? I could part with one if you paid shipping. Let me know.

Re: Need some pictures

I guess the 67 is different. Here are pix of my bracket, and the space where the other one should be. I might be missing more parts than I thought!
