towing with big wheels

in need of some help/knowledge here guys we have a 2010 chevy tahoe with stock suspension is our family wagon currently with 28 inch wheels the exact size of the tire is 275/25 28 im gonna be needing to tow my 64 chevy c10 shortbed back to my house soon is aprox a 45 min trip from my buddys house to my house i was wondering if anyone out there is towing or has towed with 26+ wheels and tire before.

the 64 is a shortbed single cab and is just a rolling body with no motor, no trans and no interior so im thinking 2,500 lbs the way it sits, the trailer is a 16 foot long dual axle trailer made to tow cars, i did some reaserch on the weight capacity on the wheels and tires, the wheels specs show 2200 lbs capacity on each wheel and the tires load rating is 101w and what i could find online with that number is that each tire weight capacity is 1819 lbs if im reading this right here is a link for the load rating chart.

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoLoadIndex.dos

some info on the tahoe is a 5.3 lt with trans cooler already installed from factory and a tow package from factory, the suspension is all stock height any input/info would be greatly appreciated......

Re: towing with big wheels

I use my truck to tow vehicles with. I have a 71 chevy 4x4 with a 292 4spd and 37" tires. I have had no problem towing anything, you should have no problem towing your truck.

High performance 25 series tires are NOT suitable for towing.

i agree! and that's what im worried about the size of the tire, 25 series are basically rubber bands and even tho the load chart says 1,819 lbs each tire still makes me nervious to tow with it thats why i wanted to see if anyone has done it before and how much they towed with that set up...
