Seen on CL---not mine

Saw this one on CL http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4173700234.html

Love the color. Can't fathom keeping 3 OTT behind a 454 though.

Something like that deserves a nice OtF manual, or auto(I'm partial to stick shifts).

I'm also not a fan of those hoods. I'm partial to the stock hoods. Why mess with perfection?

I just can't imagine having big block power and not being able to slam through the gears. Granny shifting the 3 OTT just takes the fun out of it.

Re: Seen on CL---not mine

I had a '68 CST 396/3spd/posi that was one of two (same color and all) ordered by brothers. I also had a '72 402/3spd/posi. You couldn't get a 4 on the floor like cars has,so the 3spd was the closest thing. Automatics weren't so widely excepted for real truck hauling or for racing,yet...or just beginning. All kinds of big torque monster motors in the '60s came with 3spds behind them. They can be shifted rather quickly and guys loved how 2id gear wound out
