292 harmonic balancer

Does anyone have a part number for the correct harmonic balancer for a 1966 c10 292 inline 6?
I've searched online and went to Napa and neither shows a balancer for the 1966. I've seen balancers for 1975 up, will these ones work for my application?
I've seen the one that has the GM p/n 10141202 will this work?
Thanks for your help, Roy

Re: 292 harmonic balancer

I looked up the 292 dampener after I read your post.

As best as I can tell, GM used the same dampener from 63-89. The primary difference is whether it's a 2 groove or 3 groove.

This guy has a listing for 2 and 3 grooves for the 63-89, but at the bottom of the page he has one listed for a 75-89. So I guess it is a little confusing.

Might be worth a call.

Re: 292 harmonic balancer

There are differences in the width & the spacing of the belt grooves through various years. 73 back were pretty much the same

Re: 292 harmonic balancer

GM p/n 10141202.
That's the 292-specific 3-groove heavy duty Harmonic Balancer.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's probably the same as a '67 - '68 if the front snout diameter is the same [O.D. 1.255" --same as SBC] and it's tapped 1/2'' x 20NF x 2-1/2'' for the locking bolt
According to Santucci there are different depths for the keyway slot, some 1/16th'', some 1/8th''. Latter is preffered for hi-perf.
