Re: front fender badge placement

On my 72. Pics are of left fender. My right fender badge was askew leading me to believe right fender was replaced and badge drilled wrong. I fixed it before paint. Badges are centered under side marker. As far as distance below marker, maybe someone else can confirm mine is correct. End of ruler is closer to center/end points than it looks, camera angle makes it look off.

Re: front fender badge placement

i may leave them off now that i found out 71,72 had them in this spot, and 69,70 are below the badge near the door. mine is a 69 gmc fitted with a 402. i like them better below the marker.

If going for originality leave'em off, the GMC models never used the separate/normally seen rectangle chevy 8-? ? ? engine call out emblems on the fenders. Mel

Re: front fender badge placement

Just bought my '72 last Fall and have wondered why my 396 badge is under the Custom 10 badge. Is it incorrect for a '72? Might the fenders be from a '71?

69-70 had the badge under the emblem towards the door like you describe. A 396 emblem would be 69 and maybe some early 70 models.

Yes on the 4 wheel drive emblems under the front of fender reflector/marker light opening on your 69 GMC K model, besides being OE on the Chevy K models these 4 wheel drive emblems are also listed in the old GMC parts books for 1968-69-70 K models, if you check out your added diagram in the first post note the "KA 150-250" plate call out/designation for location of these fender emblems. If working on a deserving build, we have another NOS set of these 4 wheel drive emblems listed/available in post #40 of the below linked 1969-70 NOS parts f/s thread. Let us know if interested, Mel

i realize you likely don't need these measurements now but they might help somebody else.these are what the engine call out emblems on my 72 truck built in Fremont,Ca measure.from the tape straight edge vertical to the center of the emblem hole,on both sides is 0.687 or 11/16's and from the horizontal tape line at the bottom of the side marker,it 0.782 or 25/32's down to the center of the emblem hole.hope that helps someone.
