Lambrecht truck reference thread

I need some bankable, truly accurate references for putting my truck(s) back to OE spec on a few issues. I'm sure many of you are in the same boat. The recent auction in NE gave several of you the chance to photograph in detail the exact way these trucks were originally constructed. I'm also hoping at least a few of these trucks went home with forum members, and will become sources of absolute information.
There are a few threads on restoration details already, but none as reliable as what can be found on a single digit mile truck. Period.
So, with this in mind, I'm starting a thread where members can post questions for those that were there, or hopefully even took a truck home.
For starters, I'm redoing my heater hoses on my Suburban. 1965 283 V8. What's correct as far as hose markings, clamps at both ends, positions of clamps, and attachment to inner fenders, etc.

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

I posted a video in the nostalgic picture thread for 1963 model trucks.....shows tons of great footage of several 63 trucks if it helps any. There is a lot of good detail there for 63's.

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

Hopefully someone else took detail shots ? Or they are experiencing the same difficulty accessing photobucket as I am !

The 64 I have has both hoses with the GM logo and I have pictures of a 65 six cylinder from there with both the GM logo hoses. For some reason the two V8 trucks the hoses were so dirty you could not see the GM. I have close ups of the Light Blue 65 V8 trucks hoses, one is ribbed and one is smooth but that's all you can see in the picture. As soon as I can access photobucket I will post pics.

Many many other interesting details about these trucks were present here. But what might be the difference in these trucks to others is all but one I believe was built in Janesville.

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

Thanks for those pics. It looks like an inconsistent mix of clamps were used on the water pump end of the heater hoses. Some have tower clamps, some Corbin spring clamps, and possibly another style in there too. Same goes for hose stock and it's grooves/markings. Do you agree?

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

I was able to find on the maroon 65 V8 heater hose the GM logo on the 5/8 hose just about 2" and 4" from the clamp on heater core (check photo attached) and I would bet there was one on the 3/4 but I can't say for sure. Both V8 trucks out of Janesville plant used corbin clamps on the heater core end and the 5/8 intake manifold and a tower clamp on the 3/4 fitting on water pump. Interestingly the black/white '66 6 cylinder truck was Fremont California built, shipped by truck line to KC and then brought by another truck to Pierce according to the paperwork of Lambrecht's. It had only a very weathered 5/8 hose left on it and it didn't appear to have markings. I also attached a shot from the blue V8 heater box end but didn't try to clean the hose to see markings.

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

On the V8 steel tube with tower clamps of the maroon V8 truck only this one remained in tact with the radiator. Notice how rough the the ends of hoses were when cut off to length. Doesn't make them look like a factory molded short hose? It also had the original 13# AC radiator cap before it was stolen on Saturday.

Only truck that had them would have been the 66 black/white. I don't have any of the bottle if it had one but I have the firewall area and the hoses have three ribs on them.

Heres a couple pictures of an NOS heater kit dated for 1964 . I have a 65 kit I will try and get some pictures of also. Notice the clamps in the kit.

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

Another note about so called date coded tower clamps I see all over the internet. All these 1965 model V8 tower clamps used on the radiator hoses has "66" stamped on them along with the actual size in much smaller lettering. So maybe that was just the style or size of clamp they required when they grabbed them out of the parts crates?

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

Jon I noticed in one of your 6 cylinder pictures the water pump inlet hose clamp is that same style 3/4" side clamp and the upper thermostat outlet is a corbin clamp. Just like what is in your nos heater kit above. I also saw several different ways they were used on the 64-65's up there. But both the 65 283's used that tall tower clamp on the water pump 3/4 fitting. Mark

Re: Lambrecht truck reference thread

Good eye Mark ! For passenger cars this kind of stuff is spelled out in individual year assembly manuals. Anyone really read the truck assembly manuals ?

Also on the AC oil breather caps, Im reading in other threads about a decal on them, I didn't see any on these trucks. I only see them on the NOS replacement AC caps. Any thoughts there ?
