Rear tow hooks.
Very cold here today so i dug these out in hopes of heping to clarify some things about these rare birds... I see them for sale from time to time and am guessing they are usually not the originals. The first couple pics are from the 69 gmc accessories book. I am sure the one hook is correct. The other is very similar, but not exact.
I am starting this in hopes of getting some clarification so am looking for input, pics or whatever you may want to add.

Re: Rear tow hooks.
Mine look like yours. I lost my camera. The number on them is 2133367GM22LH on one side and 2133366GM22RH on the other side of each one. They don't have that encircled U and there are other numbers embossed. One has RUA in slightly larger letters near the base next to the bolt hole on the side the hook curls toward. The other has TPS on the side it curls away from, same place by the bolt hole. Those letters are about 1/4" tall

Re: Rear tow hooks.
I think it's possible these came from different vendors at some point. yours are certainly GM and so are mine, yet there are differences. Look at the bumper guards. I bought two pair the same day from the dealer. Years later when I removed from the box, one pair had smooth pads and the others had ribs. Up till then I considered the ribbed ones as non-GM.

Re: Rear tow hooks.
How big is the hook? It appears larger than the ones available today.

Re: Rear tow hooks.
The footprint is too wide to affix to a frame - the frame has to be widened (as on mine here, last pic: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...4&postcount=37) if one wants the hooks accessible. I suspect these were originally intended for use with larger (ex. C50) rigs.

Re: Rear tow hooks.
I assume they are instructions for a 3500 1ton chassis that didn't have a factory bumper perhaps? Thus needing a tow point? Also if cab and chassis 157" wheelbase frame, they have taller frame rails. Trevor

Re: Rear tow hooks.
Just read the ad, "for all models". Still my guess is a truck not ordered with a rear bumper, these would be an option for rear tow points for an owner. Also needing the license plate location. Trevor

Re: Rear tow hooks.
Rear bumpers were an option on all trucks. You could also get a cab & chassis in all GVWs.
