Show me your non-original seats!

Hello folks!

I am looking for ideas for my seats. I was going back and forth between the 06 GMC/Chevy bucket seats, with seatbelt built in to the seat, or the 08 seats that look more like traditional bucket seats.

If you have any other installs, or the ones i just listed, please post a photo of your interior so I can get ideas? Were there any modifications required with what you're using?

Thanks!

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

In my current truck, a bench from a 88-94 Silverado. Recovered

My first 70 had buckets from a 96-98 model Silverado, Super comfy

The seat from the later models always made it too cramped for me ( 6'1" )

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

This was from around 1990 Chevy, I believe. I made some custom brackets for it to mount to the factory spots.

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

40/20/40 seats in my 71 4x4. Center seat has under seat storage and fold down cup holder. Fitted home made brackets to stock seat bolt hole locations. Sits a bit high and need some more tweaking to lower but very comfortable. Bought the seat at a swap meet from an RV vendor, don't recall the name.

Where diid you get the 40/20/40 seats from? They look good.

Do you find it makes the cab smaller? Tight fit?

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

I have '69 Thunderbird power seats in my '68 C/10 Stepside. Bucket backs, bench bottom -- 40/20/40. The middle section folds down for an armrest. Re-skinned in Saddle vinyl. I used the same vinyl for the Dashpad. Had them since 1977. The Ford electric control switch is not connected. It draws over 30 amps. Big dogs have dug their nails into the fabric on tight turns. I usually have a fake fur throw over the seat.

I got the seat at a swap meet vendor several years ago. With the high backs the seat takes a bit more room maybe than the stock bench. Bit of a tight fit to install and have been thinking I need to rework the seat brackets to lower the seats just a bit. Not high on the priority list with that.

Nice! Wish I could get a middle third seat with those.

Yes. It is padded and turns into a seat. There is also a storage area under the seat as well as under the lid.

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

Just a note if you use seats with shoulder harness that is in the back part of the seat and not attached to the upper B pillar mount you need to really make sure you add support to the floor pan.

Outstanding! They all fit well side by side between the doors when they are closed? How does it feel sitting in it? Too high? Too low?

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

They fit really good, had to modify brackets of course, as far as height I think that they are going to be okay.
Still in the building process.

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

Got rear ended in a 4 door Nova once that had a a bench seat.
Didn't see it coming, dang near tore my head off.

No way would I want that to ever happen when there is a flat rear window two inches behind my head!

Got these at a junk yard and have no idea what they came out of but I love 'em!

Even stuffed a subwoofer in between.

Yeah, that's the style. The one in my truck I got from an old Sergeant who ran the Base Hobby Shop Garage at MCAS Yuma. I traded him my '68 folding bench seat in Silver Fawn vinyl + $20 so he could get it recovered. The T-Bird seat came out of his '66 GMC fleetside.
Originally the T-Bird seat had some clear vinyl protector covers over Charcoal Grey upholstery. After I wore that out, I had an auto upholsteror recover the seat in Saddle Vinyl. Some of the leftovers I recovered the Dashpad with. [This was way before LMC Trucks had everything for this series.]
The Ford special tuck 'n' roll treatment was dropped.
I used to have the 6-way switch connected. On a long trip, I could adjust the seat angle or level to avoid accelerator cramps. The switch broke, but I found a replacement at a junkyard out of a '73 Mercury. But after burning up a Fusable Link powering the seat, I just set it at an optimun position and never move it.
Your Mom had a cool ride. I have no idea what became of the T-Bird my seat came out of but I did find the build sheet.

Those seats were redone when my granddaddy drove it for a while. They were the vinyl that's on the door panels. The sale fell through on this car and my brothers want me to have it. It was the car of never ending burnouts. My garage is full and as you know well being in Tucson, the desert sun is no match for a plastic roof. I wish I could keep it. Thanks for the compliment. My mom would have appreciated it.

Re: Show me your non-original seats!

The seats where out of a 2003 Chrysler 300, I’m pretty sure that they used that seat for a few years.
Thanks
