What the heck is this wire?!?

The pictures below are of a wire that is dangling near my Transmission. It has been melted from being too close to my exhaust pipe. It has 3 wires and the colors look to be Dark Blue, Brown, and brown with a white stripe. Before it got melted, it had two paddles side by side both horizontal. It could be that it has fallen from the engine compartment. Anybody know where it goes?
