Richmond Ring and Piņon set

I have a 65 C10 with a 12 bolt rear end and 373 gears and a series 3 carrier

I bought a Richmond 308 ring and pinion.
I also bought a 12 bolt timkin bearing and spacer kit.

The pinion bearing with the kit is too small. The Richmond pinion tapers to a much larger shaft size than the stock one. Is this normal?
Do Richmond pinions use a larger bearing?

Pauk
