Correctly installed rag joint to shaft?
Sure pays to read a service manual for this novice's steering column assm., I just had to get to reading the thing, get lazy that way sometimes.
I haven't torqued the shaft to the rag yet though looking forward to it today, and was wondering how exactly - can't seem to find anything on the subject besides this in the service manual. "The rag joint to steering shaft flange clearance should be .250" to .375." What does that mean? Clearance, say what? Kind to hard to have clearance when the flange mounts to the rag joint, I'm missing something. I don't know of a torque setting for these, two different size threads. Pic of the manual, and my rag joint currently. For what worth the rag joint was rebuilt. Thanks for any input. Side note from a guy who wrote specs., "should" should mean ideally.
