This one is on Craigslist. It looks factory, but I don’t remember ever seeing one before.

They're B-e-a-UTE-iful! Hey Greenlee, I think those were a conversion, either a kit or sold by conversion co.

Re: Pic Thread: Not Just El Caminos
Quite a few years ago I saw a 55 Chevy 2 door post car in a collection in Ga that was right hand drive and had a truck like bed and I assumed it was a Ute from Down Under but never confirmed it .

Re: Pic Thread: Not Just El Caminos
I think they made about any way you can imagine. I've seen truck-based Utes. It's already a truck and they did all that custom panel work.

Re: Pic Thread: Not Just El Caminos
I'll have to check with my brothers and sisters and see who ended up with the picture albums after my mother died. I seem to recall that my dad chopped some old MOPAR wagon into a pickup. I would have been about 10 at the time. It'll probably be shot with my mother's old Brownie B&W camera.

El Continento. Doesn't look any worse than when they started. Better, actually! Just right for a country pimp!

I found an old picture from early 80's of my '67 El Camino [another one I miss] Notice the rally wheels.

Tim, thanks for the Pontiac pics! Can you tell what it says above Pontiac on the tailgate? I tried to enlarge but still can't make it out.

Re: Pic Thread: Not Just El Caminos
It says Safari in very stylized letters. This is an actual prototype, the only one, produced and tested. The funny thing is, anything I read about it refers to it as the El Catalina. This thing is quite a car... I mean truck. Read this info. It must be a hella nice restoration job (or kept mint)
https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=...48987126893339 Look at all these custom-built Pontiacs!

Re: Pic Thread: Not Just El Caminos
I have a soft spot for classic El Caminos. When I was about 17-19, my father had a 1960 El Camino. Not fully restored, but decent. And driveable. It was my first experience with a "3 on the tree".
Pictured isn't the one I drove, but it looks really similar. If I ever hit the lottery, I will own one, and it will have no less than 700hp.

Re: Pic Thread: Not Just El Caminos
I love them, too, but never owned one. Not sure I ever will. I did have a '65 GTO and would be a happy man if I could ever own that red El GTO. The only thing it lacks are the factory style exhaust tips. I'm amazed the owner overlooked that detail
How about some real El Caminos for a while? 59-66
