1999 chevy 1500 2wd auto locking rear ???s
my truck is a 99 2wd silverado witha a 4.3 and an auto tranny, it also has a automatic locking rear diff, but i looked up the vin to see what the plant says it has for options and it does not list the auto locking rear, does this mean it was an aftermarket addition?

The code for the autolocking rear differential is G80. If that's not on your glovebox door someone added it. Either they swapped the whole rear axle or it's something aftermarket. Are you sure it's locking?

Re: 1999 chevy 1500 2wd auto locking rear ???s
I havent checked the glovebox yet, it buried with snow right now plus i was just curious, but I am sure it has a locker. on multiple occasions (we have a gravel driveway thats fairly steep) i would drive up our driveway and one wheel would spin, then if i wasnt moving at all it would stop spinning, i would move forward and if i punched the gas both tires would spin
