Not mine, I tried. This belongs to a lady who bought one of my homes. They bought it new. She just got it out of storage. I asked if it was for sale, but no such luck. She is a widow now and wants to "fix it up". She plans on painting it, and replacing trim, floor mat etc. "Like it was", she says.

But I'm in line if plans change. Is that power steering (that leaks like a sob) factory?

That type of power steering was factory on the '67's, but I thought they went to a more conventional one in '68, unless it's an early production model or something.

She said they bought it new in '67, but I swear she said it was a '68. Maybe I heard wrong. I just figured they bought it late '67 when the '68's came out. But I don't know.

It's a "68 cab." A true 67 cab has a smaller ignition and cigarette lighter holes (it's a "67 only thing.") It also has the obvious 68 side markers... BUT, as has been shown before, it could be a very late model 67 that got 68 stuff, but also got the 67 style power steering, and was sold as a 67, or it could be a 68 like she said with the 67 power steering... or they bought the truck without power steering and later added the 67 style system...

Lots of possibilities and lots of weird stuff happened at the factorys back in the day.

ANYWAY.

AWESOME TRUCK!!! Maybe if you bug her every year she'll eventuelly sell it to you

I'm drooling looking at the pics (that was one of my favorite factory colors). I'd find some nice used original trim for the bed, replace the banged up front bumper, swap in the better 68+ PS stuff, tune it up and DRIVE IT!

It would be interesting to see if the frame had the dimple in it for the larger power steering box. I know '67 frames didn't and used the ram style.

Maybe it originally came with manual steering and they wanted power. The dealer could have done the installation based on '67 parts, as the newer '68 parts might not have been available. Just a WAG.

I think the frame dimple would be the deciding factor. It could end up being a very rare, early built '68. SPID tag pic would be nice.

Not in the driveway now, so couldn't look. I did look for the spid but not on glove box door. (I assume they are there on these. I have a Jimmy) it also had the "tripod" mirrors at some point as the holes are still in the doors.

So '68's could have the ram style OR the newer gear box style? I know my '68 is the gear box style and I have ever seen the ram style on another '68.

Would be weird if both styles were available. It would be a nightmare in the parts store.

My 68 1 ton was a very early production truck and it had the ram style power steering on it. The frame was NOT dempled either.
