Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20

That’s great that your wife is into the truck. Must make ya smile to see her drive it.

My truck doesn’t have any evidence of the under-hood insulation and I’d quite forgotten that some trucks have it. Is there any performance advantage or just to keep a clean look?

I hear ya on the seats. Both of the trucks I’ve had had pretty minty seats except for the driver’s buttprint. I never did replace Earls’s cover, just living with the rough driver’s side. It’s only original once and all that. Earl had vintage-looking blanket seat covers over top and I’m considering something similar for the new Suburban. I like the repair idea for Sweet Pea but wonder if the original material has faded to the point it would be tough to color match material. Can you get a sample of the OEM material in your truck and see how it matches? Repair is mucho better than replace, and any upholstery shop should be able to sew in a new panel.

Have I mentioned I love this truck? I do. It’s perfect.

Yeah It's awesome to have the family support the hobby (addiction? obsession?) I hear guys gripe all the time about the "Ol Lady" not approving spending $ or time on the trucks, but my wife has been into it since day one. I think Sweet Pea really won her over because everything works on it! It's easy to drive, no crazy tips or tricks to get her running. Also its not lowered... she hates lowered stuff, especially trucks lol! And don't get me started with the kids, they love the truck more than I do!

I assumed all squares came with some insulation under the hood... Mine is just starting to look ratty. It's one of those things, when you run out of big ticket items to fix or upgrade, you start nit picking... Good problem to have I guess.

Yeah I hear ya on the seat issue. I was able to get a sample of the material from SMS fabrics in oregon, but it's such a small swath that its hard to tell if the color would be far off. Even if its not 100% though I think I may go for it anyway, it'll eventually fade to the same color. I think I'll hit up the local shop and ask how much material they think I'd need to do the repair.

And THANK YOU! I appreciate the love! Sweet Pea makes me smile every time I look at her, glad to know its not just me!
