3d wheel and paint mock up?

Did you ever wonder what your truck would look like if it was a different color? Three inches lower with different wheels, but just couldn't pull the trigger?

I found this rough 3d model of a 72 C10 in the innerwebs and figured Id throw some lights on it in 3ds max. I think its a 3d scan because the proportions of the model look perfect to me. It just needs the body panels cut out and cleaned up.

The wheels in the images above are the beginings of my knock off version of the rally wheels found here https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/In...d=rally+wheels
I'm thinking about building up a library of 3d car models, wheels, trim packages, etc. I have always like those marker and ink concepts that Chip Foose used to do and this would be my version I guess. You could have your custom truck 3d printed and have a little desktop model. I was wondering if there would be any interest on the board for this kind of thing. A little background on me, I have been working in CG graphics for 22 years. Here is my 3d portfolio http://www.digitaljeremy.com/

I work mostly in the Aerospace Industry , but also video game design. I have been a gear head since high school. So, you wanna see your truck lime green and laying the frame. Or maybe ghost flames with a billet grill. I'm your huckleberry.

Just a reminder, you will have to be a Premium or High Octane member before you can do any advertising or selling any graphics work on the board.

Nice...I also like the 31st Century ghost drivetrain, wheels floating.

Locdoc, I was thinking free at first until your addicted. Then I jack the price up until your homeless and stealing from your relatives.

So, free but all sales are final and no refunds.

Ah, living the American dream....

ps: I think you meant NO refunds, otherwise you would really be swamped.

Carry on.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

For anyone that wants to simply change the colour of their truck, it is really easy to do in Photoshop. For free, you can use PIXLR online to do most of the things that Photoshop can do.

True you could photoshop the color, but your photoshop skill level comes into play. Good luck going from a two tone white paint scheme to one solid color.

If your looking for free photo manipulation software I’ve heard good things about gimp https://www.gimp.org/

I don’t use it I have an adobe CC subscription, cost $50 a month and is pretty much mandatory in my line of work. I finished the corvette rally wheels. I’ll post a pic in a bit. (here it is)

Also, been thinking about making custom stencils for planing out flames, custom vinyl graphics, masks etc. My first job, right after college, was at a sign shop. They cut ready to apply vinyl with a router using adobe illustrator files. Would be easy to create the same RTA vinyl for our trucks with all the dimensions on hand.

Re: 3d wheel and paint mock up?

This is an awesome idea, in the beginning stages of a frame off 69 build. Agree color and wheels have me stumped. Hate to waste the money on something I would not like. This would be a hit! Let me know if you want a test project, I’m in for sure!
