1972 Cheyenne Super 20 on the way home

great news today for me,my 72 big block Cheyenne Super has FINALLY left Utah on it's journey to Nova Scotia.i bought this truck last year but with the border closed between Canada and the US,i couldn't go get it.the border is still closed and no telling for how long,so it's on it's way to Maine, then i'll have some fancy foot work to do with a border broker to get it over the line.once it's on the Canadian side,i can go get it with my other truck and trailer, however the border here between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia is closed from a flare-up in covid cases.i need to drive across New Brunswick to get to the Canada/US border,so it's not over yet but at least it's heading east.can't wait to get my hands on it.

Congrats on finally making some forward progress on getting your hands on this little beauty.

I am so over this Covid-19 and lockdowns that haven't slowed this virus down.

yes sir, thanks.it's been a chore getting this moving, several false alarms with carriers who promised but couldn't deliver.i didn't have a good feeling that it was going to get moving today but thankfully,i was wrong.normally i just go get whatever i've bought but everything shut down now at the Canada/US border for a year now and the closure just extended.i have to drive across New Brunswick to get to the US border and can't do that.the border right here between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick is closed?but that shouldn't last too long i hope.at least if it's waiting for me at the Maine border,it's only 5 hours away, alot closer than Utah.there will be some updates as it gets closer to home.all the best.Greg

Congrats Greg, it is finally headed in the right direction. A bit of progress in spite of the virus.
Hope you get your hands on it soon, it's been a lengthy process. You're a patient man!

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super 20 on the way home

Awesome news!

I’ve been having to source a lot of parts from south of the border too instead of just coming across to get them, hopefully sometime soon things get better.

Things at Napa in the US are 1/3 of what they charge us in Canada!

Re: 1972 Cheyenne Super 20 on the way home

It's been a nightmare. I won't get into the politics but I live close to the WA border and usually use a mailbox service in Point Roberts. I get free shipping because it is the USA and I just pay sales tax to bring stuff in. UPS and FedEx have been surcharging me all year. You get a quote for shipping of say $50. You pay it and three weeks later you get a new bill for "extras" I can't wait to drive down like normal again.

Interesting and smart how you are doing the import as I've been thinking of doing the same thing and leaving the vehice at a inside storage warehouse I have used in the past until border opens or I pony up and pay the thief local carrier to bring it across for me as I'm 400 miles, day trip, away. Are you going to have to use another carrier to actually/physically get it over the border from Maine into NS ?

hi,nice to hear from you.my plan was to go get the truck as i've done 30 or 40 times over the last 40 years but covid messed this one up.i bought it with the understanding with the man i bought it from, that since i couldn't come get it,it would have to stay with him.that was no problem til mid febuary when he called to say it had to go by march 1st?so i was scrambling but then he backed off and said,no worries,we have some time but as time went on,we didn't have time.it had to go.i have an address in Calais,Maine where i ship car stuff to,so i called them to ask if i could send them a truck.no problem so that's where it is now.the plan was for a broker at the border to do the paperwork, then call a tow truck guy who lives right there at the border on the Canadian side,he can cross back and forth from Canada to the US as i guess they're essential, and drop it to me on the New Brunswick side where supposedly i could be there when it comes off the truck and put it on my trailer, and 5 hours,we're home, but then we have a big flare up in covid cases where we had been doing very well,Nova Scotia is shut down as of yesterday for 2 weeks and the border between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia is closed, since i have to drive across New Brunswick to get to the US border, i'm dead in the water.the paperwork at the border is being done, the truck is going to have to stay where it is in Calais,Maine and hopefully in 2 weeks, things will have calmed down enough that i can have the tow truck bring it over and i'll be able to be there to get it.if none of that works in 2 weeks,i guess it'll be back to the drawing board to come up with plan "B",whatever that is??thanks.Greg

thank you sir.there will be more pictures for sure, once it ever gets this far.i've only seen it pictures so i'm anxious to get my hands on it and see just how good it is,supposed to be very good, but we'll see.74,000 mile big block truck, built in Freemont,Ca.sold in City of Industry,CA and in storage since 1997.it ought to be a good one?hopefully in a couple weeks it'll finally make the last 5 hours home?

Very cool truck and quite the story you'll have once you've got it home. Count me in on the pictures and write up of what you do to get it back on the road.
