55.2-59 Paint and body

I live in Batesville Mississippi
I need someone not to far from here to do some finish body work and paint?.
The truck has been in body shop jail and I need to get the project finished.
The truck is farter along than these pictures.

can tell you this much...I'm sure you dont want to hear it...
Another body shop isn't gonna like going over another's work...not when their rep is on the line..
I found that out myself on my C30...every one I talked to wanted to strip all the work that had been done and start from bare metal..
Hope you can find someone...I learned (sorta) to just do it myself....not show stuff by any means , but ok for a driver

to add to the above... plan on spending $25,000 minimum, the whole truck needs to come apart for a paint job. firewall, inner fenders, under fenders, etc all need bodyworked, primer and paint.
there's a reason most of us do our own work

I have already mocked up everything and the truck has been apart several times. The cab, doors and fenders are together for block sanding right now, then it comes apart for a little bit of door jam work and then painting. The bed is all new.
The only thing I need to buy to finish this truck are Seats and a few other small things.

What color are you wanting to paint it ?

I had a 1979 Trans Am that was Mayan Red (Bright Red)
But the hole front cap of this truck was Ocean Green.
The Red may sell better one day down the road.

I'm going to say that because it is modified, any reason to feel that one has to paint it back original color just went out the window unless that is the color you always planned to paint it. Paint it what you originally wanted to unless the cost of that particular color isn't in the budget.

It it was a total stone stock restoration that you planned to show in the big Chevy truck shows as a judged for restored to original truck, then the original color would be the way to go.
Not restored to original who gives a flip what color you paint it as long as it fits the build plan.

That said, some paint colors and a lot of paint design patterns can get real dated real quick and look old and out of dated in five years after they were freshly painted. The pastel combos that were real popular are some of those.

I'm no help with a reliable shop in that area. I'd agree that a lot of shops will want to take it back down to bare metal not trusting someone else's prep work with their paint job.

As Ogre and others are saying, a different paint shop will want to do it their way, especially if you plan on paying them to do a quality job. Expect it to come apart and refit again and again

One option that might work is to find out what young body men around the area take on side jobs and will do the actual finish body work in your garage and then paint it in a paint booth that they have access to.

Young hungry bodymen are usually the original Side Job Bobs. The guys I knew that worked in dealer body shops were usually fast and did nice work. I don't think that there are that many hours involved to get that one read for final prep and paint.

I'd suggest an agreement for payment at stages on the body work. meaning the nose = X $$ Cab and doors = Y $$ and the box and rear fenders + Z $$ how ever you agree to break it up. You can break it up any way that is agreeable but for the body dude, knowing that he has to complete a certain segment before he gets paid anything is an incentive to get in and get it done.

I think mr48chev is on the right track. Ask around and see if there is someone in your area for side work. I have seen some fantastic work done like that at a reasonable cost. I am fortunate to be able to do all my own work and would not afford it otherwise. You will find the right guy just look at some of the work they have done first and not a lot of money upfront. md 2020 if you go to car meets and ask some of the guys where or who painted there vehicle you might find someone that way. ask around some car guys good luck

I gotta agree with the above comments. most shops will not do just a paint job without seeing the metal underneath. its not in their best interests. check around for a bay rental shop with a paint booth. sometimes there are body guys who work out of those shops and they may just do some quick final prep, mask and spray the paint for you. if not try to find a hungry young fella with access to a paint booth. check the local paint supply places as those side job guys usually get their paint and supplies from the cheaper supply shops. maybe you get lucky.

I have to agree with Mongocanfly on this
We had a car show last weekend and a friend of mine and I spoke to a guy who was restoring a 57 NAPCO. he was asking about body shops and both of us team tagged this guy into stepping up and tackling the body work himself . We both also offered to stop over and give some tips on his body project.

Maybe a local vocational high school has a body shop program you could get your truck into. I have no idea of the quality level to expect but maybe an option for you.
