Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

well, was getting ready to mate to the trans and figured I would reseal the output shaft and the slip yoke tube inside since there was trans oil on the u joint when I pulled it from the donor. the tube I can't get local so had to order it off Amazon and won't be in until the week sometime. I did get the shaft seal in...pain in the ass.

if you guys have a rear main seal alignment donut, it fits perfectly over the rubber so you can evenly tap the seal in.

I'm not sure if the stock 67 sender will work though. when I get to the cluster, I will be modding it like ls1nova did with the s10 speedo. I will be adding a clock and camaro tach, and delete the circuit board and make a harness. so not sure if the idiot gauge temp sender is used or the 5 hole cluster temp sender. I believe they are 2 different ones?

Yes, they are different. First picture is for gauges and second picture is for light.

hmm well I ordered my rewire kit a while back but I believe it's universal. so do I just order the gauge temp sender and plug..and crimp the plug to this harness?

edit: I believe I have the right one?

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

The terminal should fit the sender ok, but you will need the right connector for a gauge. The connectors look the same with the exception of the gauge connector has a half moon cutout to slide over the pin on the sender. I believe the correct connector is white, but if you don't care what color it is I think I have a black one.

ah ok. i checked my harness and didnt see this connector. i do have my old engine harness, but im getting together another order from rockauto and will throw it in there. im really debating on whether i should pull all the balljoints and tie rods out and replace them. i bought them all new about 11 years ago and they have zero miles, but i bought house brand stuff and a few of the boots are torn from sitting so long (althought i can buy the boots by themselves). its about 250 i could be saving and putting to something else.

waiting on my slip yoke seal for the trans, so in the meantime i will clean up and paint the front suspension stuff.

plan is once i get the motor and trans in, get the front suspension back together....i will start on the rear stuff. need to look into what tank and pump combo i will use, but im thinking the 87 blazer tank setup i seen some people use. but once thats in, i can work on the fuel lines. such a long to do list before i can even try to get this cranked up and move under its own power....

Yes, that is the correct one for gauges.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

thanks locdoc. I ordered one with rockauto.

getting a little ahead of myself but I ordered up the the fuel tank, sending unit, and in tank pump. I know most blazer tank swaps are done with the 31 gallon, but I went with the 25 gallon setup. hoping it's a more shallow tank for ground clearance.

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

working on getting the suspension cleaned up and painted. I was trying to get the pitman arm off the crosslink bar without my balljoint popper tool and I might have damaged the nut to thread back on. so I tried running the number casted on and it's coming up as 67-8 truck manual gearbox arm.

I have a power steering box, so should I swap this pitman arm out for a 72 power steering pitman arm? I don't believe I ever changed this arm but everything seemed to line up. casting # is 3952084A

Why don't you just run a thread chaser on it?

I'm going to buy a new castle nut today and see if the threads are OK. if I can use it and the castle nut doesn't work, I will fix the threads. I just noticed after looking up the part number that it's listed for manual steering....im just not sure if I should use it or grab one for power steering. I don't even know what the differences would be.

That is going to look great. Did you ever figure out your pitman arm issue?

well I found the replacement castle nut and it thread on fine, so that's OK. I'm going to bolt everything together and at some point hopefully I can tell if the pitman arm will work or not. of not I will swap it out

Re: Project 67 DRGNWGN - 67 Burban!!

trying to get some of this stuff back in. not sure if I'm having fitment issues now. putting the spindle back on and it doesn't seem to go ALL the way down on the lower ball joint. I'm not sure if this is normal or maybe with all the weight back on the front it will settle more? I hit it with my impact and that's as far as it goes....

passenger side did the same thing. I'm wondering if I get all the steering together and put the wheels on and get it on the ground if I could try and tighten it more?

That's a bummer you have to take them back apart. Is there any paint inside the holes that the tapered stud fits into? It doesn't take much to change the fit on them. I think you can buy a reamer with the correct taper to open the holes up a little.
