Well I got it running again. Runs smooth with new timing set. Transmission wouldn't turn the tires but it just needed some more oil so all good there.

Couple little issues. The water pump is seeping out of the back. I sacrificed some wrenches, ground them down to tighten the 6 bolts. It slowed it down but doesn't appear to have stopped. Ill double check again tomorrow but it will probably need a new back gasket. Man, I don't want to pull it all apart, chip bolt paint etc. So frustrating.

Also when I had the rad re-cored I went with a three core. Not knowing there was a difference in shrouds. it doesn't fit like it did before. I used some small hose for spacers for the time being.

I guess there were a lot of things done to not have any problems.

Wheeled it outside to rinse off the year's worth of garage dust and drove it for its maiden test run. The only issue is a loose connection or ground for the voltage regulator.

There is still some work to do, bumper, headlights, antenna etc but it's winding down. Just in time for winter.

The stance is just about right for me as I didn't want it too low.

I'm considering Sniper Qjet fuel injection. They say to get it running first so I went that route vs putting it in as part of the project.

To make the truck more user friendly and to not load up on fuel on slow drives, I took the plunge and installed a Sniper Qjet and upgraded the 37 amp alternator to an internally regulated unit. Nothing was permanently altered (which for whatever reason I still find important).

I was able to tuck the fitech (50006 mini) up under the batter to keep it hidden. I used an angled fitting for the pressure gauge which has the side benefit of making the gauge readable looking between the batter and radiator support.

Running the Sniper with the original points distributor left a lot of room for improvement. It was tough to get the fuel tables dialed in because of the inconsistency with the points.

I took the plunge and installed the Hyperspark. The improvement has been better than the difference between the carb and fuel injection. The drivability has made the Sniper and Hyperspark worth it.

Caveat, I have been unable to join the Holley forums. I go through the registration process but I never get approved by a moderator. I am wondering if anyone else has had issues joining Holley's forum. My presence here indicates that I know how join a forum : ).
