Other vintage
Who here doesn't like vintage considering the crowd. What else you got besides trucks?
Motivated by this table I'm trying to get, it's on the bucket list. He "doesn't" want to ship but has already talked himself into how easy to disassemble. I told him I'd make it worth his while, see what happens, Michigan to Nevada. I'm guessing the cost to ship is 1.5 the price of the set, but the price is real good. I'd be in about 1100.

He says "probably about $60 to ship" I'll bet closer to $400 before boxes and that. Every once on a while a nice set comes up, but they all seem to be on the East coast.

Re: Other vintage
Nice set. I hope you get it soon. We have a bunch of antique malls you can find that stuff and so much more in.
Just about everything I own is either vintage, hand-made, or homemade. I remember when I bought my '90 Harley brand new, after only owning old Bikes. Guys were asking what was up with that and my answer was, "I live in an old house, I drive old trucks, I work on old houses, s;eep in an old bed with my old lady. I wanted something to just ride!". Now that thing is 32 years old! I have a folder on the 'puter called "My Stuff" with pictures of vehicles as well as a folder called "Stuff". The problem is, without wanting to, I somehow dragged it and dropped it into some other folder and have yet to find it. Computers can frustrate me... Argh! I just hope it didn't somehow get deleted... Double Argh!! Doggone sensitive electronic POS, helps you when you don't want no dang help!

Re: Other vintage
He was surprised to learn the table alone would cost about $200. By the time shipping & handling is over, a guy could just as well buy a new table
I like it My only fear would be they don't pack it right...........Happens all the time vintage parts, to me it seems Not much in the way of antique malls here, I like them too, just don't seem them often.

Re: Other vintage
There is a search function in my folders? I'll have to look into that. Thanks
EDIT: I get nothing. I hate computers sometimes. I'll tap and tap on the mouse pad and get no response. Other times it detects a double tap when I only tapped once, and also detects a slight lateral slide so that as soon as I lift my finger a folder has been moved to a location I have to guess or search for. Usually it will be the next folder or two to the right. If this folder and sub-folders were deleted, how could that happen when I never had my finger anywhere near 'delete' up top, and never tapped the drop down that asks if I am sure I want to delete? I hate assistance I never asked for, with computers. "Stop trying to figure out what YOU think I want!", is what I always think (out loud sometimes).

My parents had a table like that when I was a kid, except the top was gray and the chairs were red and white

Re: Other vintage
Wow did that bring back memories. My grandparents used to take me to a mom n pop breakfast place (that was awesome) in the 80's and their tables and chairs all looked like those. Pretty sure I recall they had a mix of yellow and green.

Re: Other vintage
Like I said, about everything I own is vintage. Even some things I bought new!
I'll start with my house, 1857 log home. The small garage I recently built has German siding and wavy glass windows to match the house. My newest vehicle is a '95. I cook with vintage cook wear and eat off of vintage dishes. In my house I have vintage light fixtures and all the door hardware is vintage. Medicine cabinets, mirrors, furniture, pictures on the wall, lawn furniture, bicycles, it just goes on. I collected vintage toys for years, old signs, too. All I need now is an old lady 30 some years ago when you couldn't buy new light fixtures in a vintage style, I found a tinsmith and had him make five copper lantern style wall fixtures for outside lighting and two antiqued tin pie plate sconces for over my fireplace. I guess those are becoming actual vintage now

Re: Other vintage
There are so many things in that kitchen pic that just scream old, not retro styling, actual old. The (I assume) exterior wall, the beams in the ceiling, the pantry in the corner, the white enamel sink that sticks above the countertop so much, butterfly door hinges. It looks fantastic.
Someday soon, I am going to remodel my kitchen (1929 house) because it is just tired and needs some reconfiguring. My main goal though, is to keep with the appropriate look. I took out a chimney that was covered over many decades ago and cobbled something in its place. It changes the layout. Turns out that the chimney was for a wood-fired stove from when the house was new.

Re: Other vintage
One of these days I'd like to recover my old Schwinn Krate. Bright yellow go figure. Lemon Peeler.
Here's a few things. Maple table and lamp was at our place lake tahoe 60s. I did get to meet the bonanza boys on occasions. And I'm going past vintage with this drawing of my uncle's mom. Couldn't tell you a date but she was obviously young and my uncle was born 1880. One of these days I should break out his Spanish American war locket. His dad enlisted as a confederate when he was 15 at beginning of the not so civil war. He ended up being a councilmen in Cleveland afterwards, and I think I have his postage stamp. Black light posters in my "drum room". I recovered these and one more, but turns out I didn't recover the buck, I knew something was off. Same company, 1976. My mother saved a picture I took of the old one, man I wish I could find that, most beautiful poster I've seen, but chances are HIGH there are non in existence, even back in the day I only knew of one.

The corner pantry serves as the chase for plumbing behind a false back. The drain for the upstairs bath runs above the sink, behind the grille work. The built-in below the light is in the back wall (log) in a former window opening. I built an addition behind that wall and it's the mudroom behind it now, then a sunroom (used as bedroom). That sink I bought new in '87, Kohler. 1929 is a cool era. You could do an era carpenter-built style kitchen in that. It will be hard to leave this old log place with all it's soul. Finding another would be great, but for the sake of variety I'd like to do a craftsman style house. I've been grabbing pictures of smaller ones, as well as other cool cottage type, even small Victorians. If I end up with a common place small rancher I'll transform it into a Craftsman style. I definitely want something to apply a lot of hand made carpentry to. Thank you. Made the most out of the limited space. The log portion is 24' wide x 16' deep. Kitchen/dining area is 8 x 16. I searched to find the right table. It's a drop-leaf oval I can open up, slide out, and seat six (snugly). I keep one leaf dropped, against the wall, three chairs, unless I have guests Quote:
Bucket seats and all, right? I'm cramped for space with everything emptied out of my (2 level) barn. I haven't been able to use my woodstove because of the seats and a bunch of antique chairs needing repairs stuffed all around it. Just yesterday I realized I could put them back up in the barn until the actually day I move that building. I want to build a fire! (and save on my electric). I can't be taking nice vacations to stay in a comfy cabin, so I just live in one Now I feel like I'm showing off. This thread hit the nail on my head Again, not proud of the rushed craftsmanship, but here is my laundry room I added on. One Christmas I set the coffee machine up on the folding table (made from an old board & batten door) to make more counter space in the kitchen... and there it stayed. It's a small enough place, there's a utility sink in there, and screw tradition. It works out well
