Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

like i said, we had countless slides all over the place...like this unfortunate guy down the road from me, don't think the geo-techs are gonna let him move back in.
thought it was just another slide, till ya drive around it and see where it came from....poor guy..

worst part imo is we lost pretty much every back road and FSR road. me and the dawgs have not been able to get down pretty much every single back road we tried. the valley will look a lot different for riding next summer.
there was never a river or creek in this area, took out approx 3 miles of the road

I have friends just outside of Abbotsford that are still trying to save their home and business from flooding caused by a landslide. The rains just keeping coming without let up making things worse.

actually the last 2 weeks have helped, got a arctic outflow happening, we been hanging around -15C to -25C (0 to -15F) and it has slowed down the water and snow coming off the mountains (but now i gotta shovel the "rain" outta my driveway...)
there was NEVER a waterfall or even a creek here before...

the military choppered in a bunch of pumps. this pump station was built in the '20's (with upgrades over the yrs)
there is 4 massive pumps in there, they have never run all 4 at once, and never at full bore, for 7 days they were all going full blast and they we worried about one pump going down, it would have allowed the river to start backflowing in again. at the peak it was pumping over 650 000 gpm

about the only damage no one regrets is this little turnaround on the highway...this is where 5-0 usually sits.

Today at one of streams running off the reservoir. He/she was perched on a limb about 10 ft from the road I stopped but couldn’t get the camera out fast enough before it took flight .

We had an occupied nest about 5 miles North of me and the last wind storm we had took it down. You can't even tell there was anything there. The nest had been there and used for the last 4 years.... Bummer.

We have a lot of Bald eagles around here now . 10 years ago there were just a couple nesters but they have had on average 2 to 3 hatchlings early spring so they multiply expedentially.

My area got about 5" of snow but thankfully majority of it has melted off of the main roadways.

I'll bet you could methodically work your way through that to make it safe, usable, and still be very rustic. If I lived a little closer, I'd be happy to come through and help you assess it and work out a plan.

In the '70s, when I worked on John Deere equipment (independent shop, servicing all brands), that could have been a Ford 9N or some such. Hadn't ever heard of Kubota, back then. Maybe they existed, I just never knew.

hi,that big boy was a FENDT,evidently a german tractor manufacturer.i took a run through the yard, these people had a Kabota coming in on trade and i was interested in it so i wanted to see if it was there, never saw the orange one but this poor little thing sitting out back with the big guys, made me laugh.i had never heard of Fendt but this place is a tractor dealer, mainly Kabota but tractors of every flavour seemed to be there.i used to truck with a guy,put a v-12,i think it was Duetz diesel in a highway truck.he used to drive in the winter with a snowmobile suit on,freezing to death with an air cooled engine?
we don't have a drop of snow, you couldn't find enough snow here to make a snowball, but supposed to be a storm coming through here today.tomorrow it'll look different i'm sure.

I've never heard of a Fendt either. I first saw a Deutz tractor at the first tractor pull I ever attended. It amazed me with it'd torque. My dad said German Panzer tanks were Deutz powered. You know, Diamond Reo tried producing Deutz powered trucks. They had a distinctive look. The first "ant eater". They did not go over well, possibly for the lack of heat

i don't know what they did for heat?maybe a gas heater like a vw bug?a 100 years ago when i was a kid in Montreal, there was a girl in my class, her dad was a salesman for Diamond Reo,i think back then they had Mack cabs?you're probably right about the Duetz engines in Panzer tanks.i did see a documentary one time about WW2 and they talked about some of the German tanks with Maybach engines and being so complicated and hard to work on out in field,it led to alot of them being left behind?interesting stuff.
