Re: 86 chevy crew cab 12 valve swap

Hey, still alive Havent worked on the crew cab for quite a while. I did blow up the two low tires on it recently. The next steps to do with it are pull the power steering pump off and see if I can get one that is the right specs for the hydroboost system so I dont blow the accumulator off the booster again, and replace the new booster that it blew apart. I need to get a muffler and finish the exhaust system off again. Cant decide if I should paint it while its somewhat apart or just let it ride for now, wouldnt take much to finish stripping the trim off at this point. Still have some wiring to finish, rear seat brackets to finish up. Wiring for the sound system to get in then I could get the carpet in. Need to pull the headliner and recover that then I can reinstall the back window. I was going to put that shark fin antenna on the roof but I think I might put a slide in camper on it one day so now I dont want anything sticking up on the roof. Still lots to do....

I'm glad to see you're still around and kicking. How's my vette?

The vette is good, still adding a little excitement to passenger's lives one ride at a time.

Awesome! I'm glad to see you getting it out and tearing up the roads with it! My old vette got back out this year. There's a list of changes that need to get done so it can be driven farther and more comfortably. Just need more time.

Re: 86 chevy crew cab 12 valve swap

So been searching out a solution to my power steering problem. I did come across a place that would build a trw power steering pump to the gpm and psi I need for the chevy system but when I got it here the ports on it are in the wrong places and wont clear the frame/crossmember so going to try dropping the pressure on the ZF pump and see if it will work. I bought a new hydrobooster from a place in CA called Vanco. He says he ports them and will handle 4.5 to 5 gpm as compared to the stock chevy pump spec of 3.5. My pump puts out 4.5 so if I can get the pressure down to 1500 psi maybe it will work for me. Just hate to find out it wont and blow my new 600 booster apart like I did the last one.
