Re: Project Where'd The Money Go

Does anyone have any sources of where I could get the plug cover on the back of a GM style power window switch (Driver's side). The body shop lost it. Here's a couple pics showing the area I'm talking about. Right now, each wire is being held in with tape. So far, all we have been able to find is the whole wiring set for about $160.00.

that same double switch was used on every car and truck GM made from the early 70s? to the end of the 80s? cars and trucks with elec windows. Finding a used one should be no problem. If the pins dont line up scab on the wires.just clip enough off of the donor for room. Nice truck by the way!

Thanks, atomicdog. That's what I've heard about the switches too. Just finding one has been challenging. Not sure best resource. Maybe a WTB on the board somewhere may turn one up.

I guess I better get some of the weekend's updates in. We made a little progress this weekend.

Before:

After:

Transmission (We decided it was easier to just use the lift to put the transmission in):

Engine (Yes, you can put a small block in without taking hood off if you hold your breath right):

Action Shots:

More to follow....

Hey thanks. Good eye. Yeah, haven't fastened/cut to length yet, but it's in its general area. Wanted to hide it as best as possible!

Re: Project Where'd The Money Go

One shot of the mother of all projects on this truck thus far.... truck with the fender wells installed. Installing repop fenders in our trucks would be a good punishment for bad people!

Radiator is just sitting there strapped in with bungie for now. Dad is making the custom cover/retention bracket for it and will have it with him next time he comes to help put this beast back together.

Re: Project Where'd The Money Go

Here is what she looks like now. We will be working on getting the back axle in alignment between the wheel wells and then figuring out what adapter size we really want to get the spacing right.

And the required "I'm pretending its back together so I can drive it" pic:

Glad to help! We've stolen most of the ideas we have in the truck today anyway. Hahaha. It's just an original combination of a bunch of stolen and/or tweaked ideas.

Re: Project Where'd The Money Go

BTW, anyone know of any negative impact of rotating the back of an alternator housing? We had to rotate ours because the battery post on the alt came way too close to the valve covers. We read online somewhere you could do that so we did.

Thanks, Heath! Yeah, you can certainly ask any questions you have! We'll be glad to help. Only one bolt through firewall behind the motor.

Thanks, man! Definitely will. In fact, I'm a little behind on updating on our progress. Will try to get it updated this weekend. But a teaser is that I'm working on figuring out how to post some video to You Tube to link to here. Something I haven't tried before so we'll see. It'll be worth it if I figure it out though!
