Don't get me wrong there is a ton of work involved and even more calculation and math to keep the truck from dog tracking down the road.

So true...the homework/research part BEFORE you start to attempt this is so critical to the outcome. I did the same (no z for the frame though) and also avoided the surprises. Keep up the good work.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Reangled the upper arms to fix ball joint angles and did a notch for my steering shaft. Also cut out the last of the factory crossmembers so their all tube now. Picture update this evening after work.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Notched upper arm to clear stearing shaft, you can also see I pie cut them to fix the ball joint angle. Removed factory core support crossmember for cleaner tube one. This will allow me the necessary space for my radiator hoses. Because I moved the wheel base forward an inch I had to bring the core support body mounts back that much and down 3". So I dropped them 3" and sectioned out the 1" just barely clearing my gear box.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Started plating the inside of the frame to tie in the carrier bearing xmember. I've just about got the panhard bar dialed in. And finally got the bag brackets built after I installed the new taller notches.

I've been grinding and welding like a mad man. So I promise I will have updates this evening and tomorrow.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Been sick this week so that's why updates have been minimal. I did get one rail smoothed out and looks good but not much else done. Grinding isn't that much fun anyways much less when your sick. Hopefully this week will go better.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Doesn't look like much done but I grinded and welded for 6 hours straight today and Im finally almost done with the bottom of one rail. Its starting seem silly to be so maticulous with a frame that will sit on the ground and no one will probably ever see but I guess it helps me sleep at night knowing its the right thing to do.
