Re: Stolen....

I'll keep an eye out for it in my area. That being said it's probably hidden away somewhere close to you. Give it a few months and you'll probably start seeing parts show up for sale on CL and ebay.
This makes me think I should do a little more to make my truck harder to steal. I always thought a 3 ott would be enough.

Re: Stolen....

As an Army Recruiter in 1988 I had a'68 Barracuda convertible stolen from San Bernardino Army Recruiting Station when I took a kid to process in Los Angeles. I looked at where it was parked and couldn't believe it wasn't there. Took a minute to sink in and then that pissed off dreaded feeling that you are a victim and that car thieves are really low class people.
The cops found it stripped and cut up with engine parts missing in the slum part of town. I donated it to the local high school to rebuild.

And I would love to catch the crook(s) that took yours, I'll see if anything comes up down here in the Rose City.

Re: Stolen....

My brother had one of his work trucks stolen by an employee. He called the police but they did nothing.

So he went driving around in the bad section of town and saw it in a driveway! He called the police but they refused to get involved (tax dollars at work!). They also demanded he do nothing which didn't sit well with my brother. He had a buddy come over to drive his car home and he drove the work truck home right then.

If I lived close to you, I'd help you search and if you needed muscle and/or steel for the liberation, I'd volunteer mine.

I have prayed for you but will keep praying.

Re: Stolen....

This is everyone's worst fear. I have a removable steering wheel by grant because I know how easy these are to steal. I keep the wheel in a tool box locked up so it's still not ideal, but it may at least make punks think twice before trying to drive off with it.

Dirt bags. My son moved to San Diego in 2011. Two weeks later his 1989 4-runner with 80K miles was stolen. I sincerely hope you receive some good luck and locate your truck in good order. Karma is a real B*(^(

Re: Stolen....

I think you'll get it back.

I've had 2 vehicles stolen and one I found by just driving around the neighborhood in circles going out gradually until bingo, there it was abandoned with a few personal things missing.
The other vehicle, a 1967 VW, the police found abandoned in the next city, no damage. Some drunk kids just looking for transportation home I figured. - GOOD LUCK!

Re: Stolen....

May Karma catch up to those who did this to you. Since it was stolen from a Park and Ride area, they probably cased you out for a few weeks , then put it in a covered trailer and had it two states away before your lunch break. There is a special place in Hades for a lowlife thief. My eyes are always open for "our trucks", so just keep us posted. As a purist at heart, I always notice unique mods on people's trucks. Are there any subtle things that we would notice, to know that it (or parts of it) is yours?

I live in Federal Way, that park and ride is known to be pretty bad. Heck all of Federal Way is going down hill fast. But car thefts seem to be up all over. I will definitely keep an eye out. I know a few places to check, i'll drive around after work tonight.

I thought the same thing, "probably watched him for a while and got his routine down."

Hey, my house is being cased and I know it. Imagine going through that! I just hope if he ever decides to come on in, I'm home and awake.

Re: Stolen....

Every body is right with IT SUCK's, I don't live near you but like every has said I also will be on the look out for any thing that closely resembles your truck. I am going to Laughlin NV. this next week and I'll keep my eyes peeled on the way to & from.

I have a 68 C10 that I call my junkyard dog "you all know what that means" "more $$$$", putting in all that work on these trucks is like Teaching your Kids to do the right things in life and them ending up shinning very brightly from your hard work & Teachings. That is a great feeling just as well as putting time into these trucks. Putting in all that time in your kids and have one of them Kidnapped is the same thing as your truck getting stolen. Hopefully all Prayers will be answered for the best.

Re: Stolen....

My experience is similar to In The Ten Ring. I had a '65 Nova SS stolen out of my driveway.

I saw it 10 years later at the drag strip. Talked to the guy who didn't seam like a thief but might have known it was stolen (VIN removed). Talked to the sheriff at the track and he told me "forget about it!"

This is why the Cops are in the trouble that they are in right now. They seam to PIC & CHOOSE in what they want to do something about. I can see why people are getting upset with some of them. But all in all SHOOTING THEM isn't the answer at all. my.02 on this

Well said - I want us on this forum to come down like a ton of bricks on this thief.

I am a supporter of Cops 100% - they really are putting their lives on the line every day -but I do also believe you sometimes have to hold them to their crime fighting duties in cases like these; otherwise they will follow normal human nature and take the path of least resistance.

Law enforcement are the ones with access to the traffic camera and security camera data and other intelligence; not average citizen Joes like us. But I have been ripped off enough to know that the normal law enforcement response to everyday thefts is "we get so many theft reports that we don't have time or resources to follow up on this" (in other words your particular theft.)

But if you think about it they (law enforcement) are telling every crime victim exactly same thing.. They are banking on the fact that all crime victims will not compare notes with each other and call into question exactly what it is they ARE doing with their very expensive time hour by hour every day.

So I believe that you have to insist on effort by them to get any action. Or at least document exactly what it is that they say they are doing for your theft event - exactly what actions they are taking for your particular case. In the form of hard written evidence - otherwise it does not matter and all facts will all be lost in the sands of time with no consequence.

Remember you or I or any board member could actually be prosecuted for going after the actual thief even if we did locate him or even catch him even in the actual act of stealing the vehicle - so only law enforcement has this privilege to take the thieves freedom and or life - so if law enforcement is not going to take any action then no-one is and this will only encourage future thefts. So the time to act is when something serious like this occurs and don't just let it go.

When your truck is stolen it is like stealing years of your life.

Just reading this traumatized me. I became angry, sent me straight to the beer cooler... to cool off. I sulked and thought about all the ways of getting glorious revenge on a car thief. I finally decided... a good fashioned

Re: Stolen....

Sorry to hear this 68 Iron.

Been there and gone through this myself.
Hope it reappears.
I'm local also and will be on a constant lookout.

Please post more photos of the truck for us. Interior and exterior.
If one of us does come across the truck and report to the Police, it would help with identification.

Best wishes.
