It is actually a NAPCO built axle.

Re: C40-c70? 67-72

While on the subject of C40 and bigger trucks;
Would anyone out there have a set of 40 fender emblems they want to sell?
Reasonably priced: or cheap would be better;
for my emblem collection board in my shop.
At least driver quality preferred.
Thanks
Ron

The cabs are pretty much the same, they all have a small back window but the doors are diferent because the front fender flairs extend into them. Basicly the door has a little notch in it. And im not sure but the firewall might be diferent.

Re: C40-c70? 67-72

The 3-53 Detroit Diesel is a 3-cylinder engine. The old Gama Goats that we had in our Guard unit had this engine, tied to an SM-465 gearbox. I used to toy around with the idea of putting one in my old '65 pickup....but it never happened.

A diesel would sound sweet, with a 4 or 5-speed gearbox and a 2-speed axle..maybe a 4-speed auxillary box behind the primary box, but the aux boxes are crash boxes with no synchros. Kinda sux if you don't get the clutch action and fuel feed just right, especially when you downshift.

Re: C40-c70? 67-72

Don't forget the gas v6's! they used everything from a 350 to a 478. I have heard the 350's and 401's were gas hogs. The 478 would pull around a twin screw truck with a 25 yard trash packer and pack on a load of trash on 13 gallons! I still have one of those in the corner of the barn waiting for the right project.
