Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
Wow ... very sharp!!
Would love to see some pics from the side where you step into the truck. How's the leg room with those seats .... bottom seat looks close to the steering wheel? Any manual adjustment, or power only? Beautiful set of seats you got there. 72 |

Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
Thanks for the compliments.. I don't have any pics of that right now, But ill try to post some later. The leg room is perfect .. it looks close to the steering wheel bcez the power seat is up really high . As soon as I hook up the power seat I should sit alot lower. But there's still more than enough room too get in as is , it just looks closer in the pic. I believe its all power but maybe the lumbar is manual ..

Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
Question for Palf70Step:
What did you have to do to the factory Suburban seat frame to bolt it down to our years Cab floor? Did you have to fab any special bracketry? Will those seats slide back further if the gas tank has been removed from the cab? Thanks Bill, we'd like to hear from you please. 72longbed Last edited by 72longbed; 01-26-2014 at 02:46 PM. |

Here is Putter's notes for the install he used on his truck and GMAN69's truck *** I ended up slotting three of the existing holes in the seat brackets for the driver's side (outer-front, outer-rear and inner-rear) so I could fine tune the alignment (twist it a little), and I drilled a new hole for the inner-front bolt. Then on the passenger side, I used the rear two holes just as they were (spaced up about 3/4"-1" off the floor). The passenger front-outer has a long slot under the slide track (Yes a second row seat slides...for entry into the rear). And for the passenger inside-front, I drilled a new hole. I also cut off both passenger seat front mounting tabs as they were not needed.

'91 seat in '70 stepside with stock tank in cab . I'm 6'2 so need as much room as I could get .
Used stock floor seat holes with the '91 side brackets. And a detail of the mounts. Last edited by ETsC10; 01-26-2014 at 03:09 PM. Reason: Rx'd pic |

Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
I'm 6'3 and I have the same problem I have a seat 60/40 from the 95 chevy and it is thick and it's pretty tough to ride in my truck. You think this style gives you plenty of room. I'm working with drum brakes too so I need some room to hammer down on those when I stop lol

Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
I put this seat in like 10 yrs ago . Had the truck since '89. Looks like I cut an angled the back of stock '91 bracket. Here's a pic from front of underside of seat looking towards back drivers side. They say memory is the first to go ... It started lol.

Flthead, you can put 5 pics per post. Find the first, upload it and then, rather than closing the popup window, find another pic, upload that, etc. Any questions, PM me.

Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
I'm just gonna take a guess here ... because I don't have any experience with the 88-9? seats ... but it looks like you also installed the seat in it's 'forward most' position on the sliders?? The seat frame looks to be way back in relation to the seat. Is that correct?
Are you able to slide the seat forward when sitting in the truck? I'll bet not, right? 72 Last edited by 72longbed; 01-26-2014 at 03:42 PM. |

Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
Didn't mean anything negative by my observation ... just trying to figure things out from pictures. Been noticing where that front factory hole lines up with others that installed same seat.
I do what is best for me in my trucks too. Why not ... I'm the one who has to drive it!! Thanks for all the pictures and info FLT ... good stuff!! 72 |

Re: The Definitive 67-72 Seat Swap Guide Thread ....
Here's mine. was in my truck when I got it. Have no clue what they are out of but it's actually 2 separate seats and the passenger is larger and can fit a 3rd person...and pretty comfy too. But I'm thinking about a recover or getting another set up.
