Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

No more exhaust hanging down with the new kit I installed. New wheel tubs, metal floor, and bed lined. Was a lot of work but well worth it.Name: new exhaust 1.jpg

Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

Just see your thread , you have a great looking truck . Whoever did your chassis must have done mine too , yellow everywhere.

Luckily it doesn't look that way anymore

The wheel tubs... are you planning to run some big tires?

Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

MJH1965,
Thank you. Yeah really I always wondered what they were thinking when they painted the frame yellow.

Johnny,
Not yet, I did the tubs to run the mufflers in, future large c notch, and to give me the extra room I needed in those step side fenders for the tires I have now. After stretching out the fenders they cleared before but barely. After all the suspension upgrades it can really hang the curves and the tires would just barely rub the bed side. I have 1" spacers on them now and could take them off and have plenty of room now before they touch the frame.

Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

It has been awhile since I last updated this build. The last few months I have been working on the truck. I replaced the entire front clip with all new reproduction parts from various sources. Used rust free hood. Replaced the 3 speed manual transmission with a 4 speed overdrive automatic 700R4/4l60 transmission from a 91 Camaro. New B&M floor shifter. New chrome grill and chrome bumpers. Replaced and cleaned up most of the wiring. Removed all the Jack Daniels logos from truck. Did not take a bunch of photos during this process. But finished photos will be posted soon.

Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

Update to the build last year I installed a used 700R4 was told it only had 44000 miles on it. I should have rebuilt it but didn't have the money at the time. I drove about 150 miles after install and transmission started slipping. It could have been the used transmission, I did see a lot of clutch material when I changed the fluid in it, or maybe I didn't adjust the TV cable properly. So anyway that brings me to this year. I decided to get a built 700R4 transmission from Animal Performance Transmissions "excellent customer service". I purchased the Revenger 700R4 good for 650hp with a constant pressure valve body, no longer need to worry about the TV valve being adjusted properly. Awaiting delivery now. I was lucky enough to have a buddy let me use his garage so I can work in a nice warm garage so we discussed some issues the engine was giving me with oil leaks and blow by. So I decided to purchase a brand new 350 and get rid of the 305 V8. Searching for the best price I found the 350 for $1352.99 with all tins from Radley GM in VA. Many new parts from summit. Just tired of piecing and finally biting the bullet getting a reliable truck. Fixing odds and ends while I am waiting for trans to be delivered. More updates to come and many long trips.

Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

I have been working on little odds and ends while I am awaiting the new transmission. The engine is on the stand and ready to go in. Painted inside the engine bay area. Now I am just itching to get the transmission and doing my best to be patiently waiting for it to arrive. I feel like a little kid already waiting for the next Christmas to come on December 26th lol.

Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

I installed new wiper arms and blades part numbers are Anco adjustable wiper arm 4102 and Anco 31 series wiper blade 31-13. Only mentioning this because I replaced the ones I got from LMC that never cleared the windshield. These make a huge difference and well worth it.

Re: Project General JD "Ole Jack"

Been awhile since I last posted. I put over 5000 miles on the truck after the new engine and transmission swap. Then I put it up for winter. Over the winter I bought a fitech fuel injection kit, rear disc brake conversion, rear fuel tank, and front tubular control arms upper and lower. Just recently got everything installed love the fitech everything went well with the install and started right up. I still have to get the truck inspected and aligned before I put any real miles on it.
