you mean like learning how to weld?
not beating on anyone, just pointing out the benefits of knowing how to weld
i'd trust a decent welded in c-notch over a bolt c-notch in any day

unless jeff wants his headlights pointed at the stars, i assume he's going to drop the front too
plus it's always nice to not "call a guy" because you need a small brake line bracket relocated

Re: Bolt in c notch

I do appreciate all the help guys. I wouldn’t mind learning how to weld at all. Learning on a c notch that is going to carry my family in. Probably not a good idea to learn on lol

Re: Bolt in c notch

Install some flat rubber bump stops and let 'er hit the frame. I've run with as little as 1-3/4" clearance between my rear axle and frame, and it only hit bottom once. Depends on your spring rate.

That is a small amount of clearance.

I have been very fortunate with my truck project as I have a good friend that has been welding for years and he has a nice Miller welder.

Hey Jeff, why don't you call the maker of this universal C notch and ask them about your suspicions fitting a 55-59 rear frame? I see no reason why it wouldn't. Also, Scotty's Hot Rod Shop has a universal, but it'll require cutting, bolting and welding.

Re: Bolt in c notch

these work great. set them up so they touch the axle waaaaay before the axle touches the frame. it will be a soft landing that way and less time in the dentist chair for the occupants of the truck.
S10 blazer rear axle suspension snubber. bolt on. easy peasy.
if you need a C notch stop by a welding shop and see if a welder there does side jobs for a better rate. lots of welders have their own machine they can bring with them and if you have a plug in for it and the unit is apart so they don't have to spend time doing the menial tasks then sometimes they are willing to co-operate and give a better deal than if they were at work. take some pics of what you have and a drawing of what you want. it's the cost of doing business. if you need it you need it. compare that to money you were going to spend on something else and had no issue with spending that cash, wheels and tires, stereo, chrome bits etc. or keep it at a stock ride height till you can afford what you need.
