Re: What should I have in my junkyard visit tool bag?
Around 2005 or so Car Craft or Hot Rod came up with a junkyard tool box set up using a Craftsman 3 draw tool box and a hand truck and a list of necessary tools.....been looking for the article to link it here but no such luck....another thing a portable sawsall is great ideal because the battery from it with jumper wires from it can provide power to operate seats and other things in the junkyard for testing..............

I always carry my Cordless grinder to the pick and pull. Easier to cut a rusted bolt than fight it for 10 mins. But don't go hacking on parts you don't need, someone else might need it in the future.

If youre needing a rear end take 1/2" breaker bar. Pb blast and a cheater along with a 1 1/16" socket.
A cordless impact too for stubborn small bolts

Re: What should I have in my junkyard visit tool bag?
I use an old Norton fork tube, doubles as a cheater bar and extended drift tool. BFH, without fail. I picked up a set of cheap 3/8" drive metric and SAE sockets, deep and regular, a couple HF ratchets (lifetime warranty!). A set of metric and SAE 1/2" impact sockets, with an old Craftsman ratchet and an HF breaker bar. I usually assess what I'm going for, and pack accordingly. Those ratcheting combo wrenches are excellent, but useless when there's no clearance for them. Shop rags and a tube of Goop handcleaner, two pair of mechanic's gloves, water, and safety glasses. Most pick'n'pulls don't allow jacks, and some restrict power tools, but a cheap 12V drill is more useful as a circuit and component tester, and it usually is allowed. I tried to take a gel-cell motorcycle battery in one- didn't make it. The power drill, no problem. A couple minutes work with wire cutters (you do have them in the box, right?) and BINGO- electrical tester tool! Just my experience with the process.
