Re: How picky is your state?
I know a guy here in MD who swapped a 350 into a Toyota 4wd. When it came time for emissions test it flunked. He got rid of it, couldn't register it.

Finding out if the inspection machine reads things like make or model that would fail the inspection is proving difficult. I doubt they considered engine swaps on ODB2 vehicles. I’ve thought about buying a donor GM truck, having the Toyota vin flashed in and trying to get it inspected as my Toyota but that could be a costly experiment for me and the shop I take it to. Should’ve got the 4cyl, the v6 in my Tacoma gets v8 gas mileage and I like the truck so it’s like, might as well just put a v8 in it. Haha |

Re: How picky is your state?
In the late seventies early eighties getting a title and license here became difficult.
in the late nineties the governor cleaned up the revenue system and getting a license and title is easy now.

Re: How picky is your state?
In the late 70's,in Texas,i tried to get my MG inspected at a Sears store. The girl claimed she couldn't see the high beam indicator and failed me!It was out in the bright sun with the top down.
Went next door in the same mall and a guy at J.C.Penny's passed it!I had raised the top! Mike. ![]() |
